Two authentic l830šs log cabins (from Kentucky and Virginia) were joined to make a very unique and comfortable vacation home. This home is constructed of beautiful hand hewn poplar and oak logs, spectacular stonework, complete with a cedar shake roof. It is located on approx. 5 acres of wooded land with a native trout stream running past the cabin through the entire acreage. The interior (approx. 1400 s.f.) features large rooms with (2) bedrooms and two (2) full bathrooms. The master is located down (double bed) and has a private bathroom. Black walnut plank flooring, antique knotty pine paneling and hand hewn soap stone block fireplace (rescued from a pre-civil war home in Ky) set the stage for this cozy retreat. The second bedroom encompasses the entire upstairs (one double and two single beds) with a cathedral ceiling and ceilings fans. The rustic but modern kitchen features new appliances, including dish washer, microwave and coffee maker. There is also a separate laundry room. A 2nd bath with tub/shower combination is also located downstairs. The family room has sat. TV and a VCR/DVD. There is also a phone (local calls only please). But the best part is the covered front porch. Relax to the view of the noisy creek and the many hummingbirds that frequent the cabin.  The cabin is conveniently located to Boone, West Jefferson and Historic Todd/New River with easy access to the Blue Ridge Parkway just over the hill.  Location: Mid-way between Boone and W.Jefferson, in Ashe County.
